Macfarlanes advises ECI Partners as eleventh growth fund closes at hard cap of £700m

10 July 2018

Macfarlanes has advised UK-based private equity firm ECI Partners on the raising of its eleventh buyout fund (ECI 11), its largest to date, which has closed after hitting its hard cap of £700m within 80 days of launching.

This close makes ECI the first private equity firm investing in UK-headquartered companies to raise an eleventh fund focused on the same strategy.

The fund received the majority of its commitments from existing investors across the UK, US, Europe and Asia including pension funds, insurance companies, fund of funds, endowments and family offices.

ECI is a long-standing client of the firm and Macfarlanes is pleased to have been involved in another successful fundraise for the business, having assisted with its previous four fundraises.

The Macfarlanes team for this fundraising was led by investment management partner Stephen Robinson with assistance from senior solicitor Harriet Hamilton and solicitor Sweta Tandle. Specialist tax advice was provided by partner Mark Baldwin and solicitor Penny Van den Brande.

Stephen Robinson comments: “We are delighted to work with ECI on their most successful fundraising to date and continue our long-standing relationship with them”.

The Macfarlanes team were integral in ensuring the success and speed of this fundraise and their advice and consistent support continues to be invaluable
