Alex Clothier Senior Associate

Alex is a senior associate in the firm’s financial services regulation team. He has a broad regulatory practice, advising UK and overseas-based wealth and asset managers, intermediaries, private equity houses, insurers and other financial and non-financial institutions on various regulatory matters.

His work to date has had a particular focus on the UK regulatory perimeter, regulatory change, the IFPR, systems and controls requirements (including under SYSC and the SMCR), and financial crime prevention. Alex frequently advises on the regulatory rules on change in control, and supports on the preparation of regulatory applications and engagement with regulators, including in the context of corporate transactions and internal reorganisations.

He also has extensive experience assisting firms with their ongoing general regulatory compliance including advice on the FCA’s conduct of business regime, interpretation of FCA rules, and reviewing in-house compliance manuals and policies.

Alex has strong client-side experience, having completed a secondment with a global insurer, during which he gained experience in the longevity risk transfer sector.
