Pete is an experienced private funds lawyer, advising private capital sponsors on fund structuring, fundraising, and regulatory compliance across private credit, private equity, and other alternative asset classes.

He works with some of Europe’s top private fund managers, helping them navigate investor negotiations, evolving market trends, and complex legal challenges.

Pete specialises in private fund structuring, advising fund sponsors on fund formation, investor negotiations, and fundraising strategies, regulatory compliance, including AIFMD, SFDR, and cross-border fundraising, global management company structuring, and team spin-outs for new investment firms launching their first funds.

In addition to his sponsor-side practice, Pete advises sovereign wealth funds, pension plans, and family offices on private capital investment programs, including primary fund allocations across private equity, credit, real estate and infrastructure, co-investments and bespoke investment strategies, seed capital transactions and first-time fund commitments, as well as secondaries sales and GP-Led transactions.

Pete has extensive experience in private fund secondaries transactions, representing both fund managers and institutional investors in LP portfolio sales and strategic fund exits, GP-led secondaries, including continuation funds and recapitalisations, together with liquidity solutions and restructuring transactions for private funds.

Before joining Macfarlanes, Pete spent over a decade in the private funds team of a leading US law firm, advising global asset managers on fund formation, regulatory compliance, and secondaries transactions.
