Fiona Bishop Senior Knowledge Lawyer
Fiona joined Macfarlanes in 2014, after spending six years advising pension funds, developers and employer clients on construction issues.
After advising pension funds, developers and employer clients on the construction aspects of real estate development projects for six years, Fiona changed focus to become a knowledge lawyer. Since then she has spent over 15 years specialising in non-contentious construction.
Her experience is mainly focused on the JCT suite and creating bespoke forms of appointment and associated documents but she also has knowledge of FIDIC, the PPC and TPC suites and standard form appointments.
She leads the Construction and Engineering know-how function (for both the contentious and non-contentious teams) and, as part of doing so, has a range of responsibilities including keeping colleagues and clients up-to-date with legal developments, developing and running the group’s training programmes, speaking at client seminars, writing news bulletins for internal and client use, writing and maintaining the group’s internal know-how and precedent documentation and working with our legal technology team to streamline tasks (for example by using contract automation).
She is co-author of the RICS ISURV section on the FIDIC forms of contract and has written for external publications including the International Comparative Legal Guides series.
Fiona is a member of the Society of Construction Law and the Construction and Projects Knowledge and Management Association.
