Macfarlanes advises Hayfin as fourth direct lending fund closes at €6bn

18 August 2023

Macfarlanes has advised Hayfin, a leading alternative asset management firm, on the raising of its latest European direct lending fund which has closed with total commitments in excess of €6bn of capital.

The successful fundraise comprised the commingled Fund IV, which has reached a final close, and certain related investment vehicles. Hayfin expects total available capital to be near or at the strategy’s hard cap of €7 billion by the end of the year.

Hayfin is a longstanding client of the firm, with Macfarlanes having acted on Hayfin’s establishment in 2009 and on many fundraises and strategic transactions since.

The Macfarlanes fundraising team was led by partners Stephen Ross, Ceinwen Rees, Chris Daniel and Harriet Miller, senior counsel Alexander Ereira and associates Ben Pape, Charlie Tannock and Joshua Oyedele.

Stephen Ross comments: “We are proud to have acted for Hayfin on this important and successful fundraise. On global mandates such as this, we can deploy the full range of our private capital capability including fund formation, tax, regulatory and fundraising advisory.”
