Macfarlanes advises Affidea Group on the acquisition of Fortius Group Limited

Macfarlanes has advised Affidea Group, the leading European provider of diagnostic imaging, outpatient and cancer care services, on its acquisition of the UK’s largest orthopaedic group Fortius Clinic.

Fortius operates three outpatient and diagnostic clinics in central London in addition to the Fortius Surgical Centre and a specialist Joint Replacement Centre and is recognised as being among the top 20 orthopaedic groups in the world. With this milestone, Affidea expands into the sub-specialty area of sports medicine, adding 90 leading specialists to its network, while also expanding its geographic footprint.

The transaction was led by corporate and M&A partner Simon Perry and tax and reward partner Rob Collard with assistance from solicitors Michael Sweeney and Mark Petch. Additional tax advice was provided by partner Jeremy Moncrieff and solicitor Lucy Urwin. Real estate advice was provided by partner Tom Pedder and solicitor Harry Pledger with employment advice coming from senior solicitor Ashleigh Inder. Advice on the commercial aspects of the deal came from senior solicitor Andrew Morrison and solicitors Sekou Taylor and Matt Jones and finance advice came from senior solicitor Christine Dowdall.
