We are pleased to announce that the following will become Senior Counsel in the firm with effect from 1 May:

  • Aalia Datoo: Aalia advises banks and financial institutions on complex, high value disputes and contentious regulatory matters, including on issues such as bribery and corruption, insider dealing, market abuse and sanctions.
  • Emma Knight: Emma is a private client lawyer with a particular focus on large scale international structuring work and resolving complex multi-generational family issues. She was recently seconded to a US firm and has specialist knowledge of US/UK estate planning.
  • Cate Taylor: Cate is a commercial real estate lawyer who concentrates on large scale complex portfolio matters for a number of the firm's key real estate clients. She also works on corporate real estate matters including HQ office moves for the firm's major corporate clients.

The role of Senior Counsel in the firm is one that brings significant additional responsibility and recognition for those senior solicitors who achieve this promotion. The Senior Counsel role was introduced in 2014 and there are now 21 Senior Counsel, all of whom demonstrate a long term commitment to our clients and practice. They have a variety of management and leadership responsibilities in their respective practice areas.

Commenting on these appointments Charles Martin, Senior Partner said: “We congratulate all our new Senior Counsel. The role is well established for the recognition and endorsement that it represents. We look forward to continued growth in their careers”.
