Macfarlanes launches new genAI tool for client use: Amplify
22 January 2025Macfarlanes is proud to announce the launch of a new generative AI powered solution called “Amplify”, for its clients to use. Amplify allows clients to streamline the analysis and interrogation of their documents and contractual data by adding a custom-built AI layer. Amplify will allow in-house teams to turn around routine work faster, giving them more time to focus on higher value, strategic tasks.
Amplify is custom-built to the client’s needs by the Macfarlanes Lawtech team, with the underlying generative AI technology powered by Harvey. It allows clients to benefit from Macfarlanes’ deep understanding of how best to leverage the potential of generative AI, within a safe, secure environment without the need to implement the technology more broadly in their organisations.
As part of its generative AI strategy, Macfarlanes continues to look closely at cutting edge, technological solutions for legal problems to offer innovative ways of tackling clients’ most complex issues, as well as developing and streamlining the firm’s existing services. In September 2023, Macfarlanes announced its generative AI strategy and as part of this the firm subscribed to Harvey, a generative AI tool designed specifically for legal work. In November 2024, the firm renewed its partnership and expanded its collaboration with Harvey.
Macfarlanes was an early adopter of generative AI technology. Following nearly two years exploring and embedding the technology within the firm, Macfarlanes is now uniquely placed to share its learnings and experience with clients.
Harvey is a leading generative AI platform for legal and professional services. Backed by investors that include Sequoia, Kleiner Perkins, Google Ventures, and OpenAI, Harvey uses natural language processing, and data analytics to automate and enhance various aspects of legal work. It helps provide new and efficient solutions which would not be possible without technological innovation.
Luke Powell, Managing Partner at Macfarlanes comments: “AI is shaping the law firms of the future and we continue to be at the forefront of the development and application of this technology. I am very pleased to add Amplify to our client offering.”
Head of Lawtech and Chief Knowledge & Innovation Officer Chris Tart-Roberts said: “Amplify will augment in-house teams, supporting them on the specific tasks they regularly undertake and creating meaningful efficiencies in the everyday running of their operations. We are excited to extend our existing client solutions to incorporate cutting-edge generative AI, to give clients the benefit of our expertise in this field and work closely with them to identify how Amplify can deliver value to their business.”
Winston Weinberg, co-founder and CEO at Harvey adds: “We are proud to have Macfarlanes as a customer and to see the organisation take this exciting step to make generative AI directly available to clients with their suite of digital products. Harvey’s technology combined with Macfarlanes expertise in Amplify provides a powerful combination for client impact.”
