Macfarlanes advises consortium led by Lawrence Stroll on £500m recapitalisation of Aston Martin

Macfarlanes has advised a consortium led by Lawrence Stroll on a strategic investment in FTSE250 luxury British sports car manufacturer Aston Martin Lagonda.

The investment compromises a proposed placing of £182m to the consortium and a major shareholders’ supported rights issue of £318m to raise combined proceeds of £500m. In connection with the investment, Mr. Stroll will become chairman of Aston Martin.

The transaction was led by senior partner Charles Martin and corporate M&A partner Robert Boyle, with assistance from senior counsel Mark Slade and private client partners Piers Barclay and Isobel Morton. Commercial advice was provided by partner Malcolm Walton and solicitor Rosie Duckworth. Advice on the financing aspects of the acquisition came from partner Kirstie Hutchinson alongside senior solicitor George Silber and solicitor Amy Walker and pensions expertise was provided by partner Camilla Barry and senior counsel Sheamal Samarasekera.
