I met a team from Macfarlanes at a recruitment fair and was impressed by their passion for the firm, and their engaging and friendly manner. I also liked the firm’s wider perspective on recruitment. Obviously academic success is important, but other skills such as communication and team work are also highly valued. This, combined with the quality of clients and interesting work, really cemented my decision to join the firm.

My experience training here was high quality and invaluable and I was able to interact with lots of people across practice groups and get to grips with the firm’s internal approach to work and clients. Since qualifying as an associate into the real estate team, I have been involved with a whole host of vastly varied transactions, ranging from complex and high-value development work and corporate acquisitions, to more bespoke landlord and tenant asset management work, acquisitions and disposals. It has been non-stop, but I have learnt so much in the years since qualifying. I have particularly enjoyed problem solving, getting to know clients and being invited on some glamorous (and not so glamorous..!) site visits. The continuing support from partners has also been vital.

I have also enjoyed the range of CSR, charity and equality initiatives promoted by the firm which always welcome volunteers and engagement. The firm’s guest speakers have been fascinating (Jon Snow was a particular highlight!) and the various activities are a good opportunity to get to know people from across the firm.

I have had a wonderful experience training and working here and look forward to continuing my career at a firm I’ve grown to admire.
