Macfarlanes advises on closing of £900m Alchemy Special Opportunities Fund IV

Macfarlanes has advised longstanding client Alchemy on the raising of its fourth special opportunities fund which, after an efficient fundraising period, has closed at its hard cap of £900m.

The successful fundraising drew on capital from both existing investors and a select number of new investors, primarily from the US and Europe.

Alchemy is currently investing from its £600m third special opportunities fund, on which Macfarlanes also advised, and the fourth fund will continue the firm’s strategy of investing in special situations through debt and equity across Europe.

The Macfarlanes team for this matter was led by investment management group partner Christopher Good with assistance from senior solicitor David Gati. Tax expertise was provided by partners James McCredie and Damien Crossley with support from solicitor Robert Clarke.
