Why did you join Macfarlanes?
Having worked for a small local firm of solicitors from the time I left college, I thought it was time to move up to the hustle and bustle of London.
What are your main responsibilities?
I work in the litigation group and look after a number of people, mainly partners and solicitors from the contentious construction team. Although each day is different, a typical day usually involves booking meetings, arranging travel, organising schedules - there's less dictation / typing involved and the role is much more varied than it used to be.
You have worked at Macfarlanes for some time, what do you like about working here?
Yes, I have worked at Macfarlanes since 1989 and have been in different departments. No matter which department you are part of, you are never made to feel as though it is a "them and us" situation, you always feel as though you are part of a team. I think this explains why, even with the standard role changing extensively, people tend to join Macfarlanes and then stay for many years.
